"System" attribute on project folder

Hi,

I had a need to set up Synology's Cloud Station synchronization for my promis.e projects folder, to allow some people to have a read-only almost-real-time view of ony dgn files.

I have noticed, that promis.e project folder have "System" attribute set by default, what makes CloudStation not to synchronize these folders (you can't synchronize system files on synology).

What's that attribute for and could it be safely removed? Made a small test on one project and no impact so far.

Regards, Wojtek

  • You may have noticed that projects for our electrical projects do not use a standard "folder" icon.  They have a custom icon to indicate visually that they are Promis.e or Substation projects.  That is one aspect of them being a "System" folder.  If you remove the System attribute, the icon will revert back to a standard folder icon.  I can't say for certain that is the only thing it would affect to remove that attribute, but if you have done it already and it doesn't seem to cause any adverse affects, then it is probably safe as long as you don't care what the icon looks like.  And certainly, any new projects created would automatically come in with the custom icon and designated as "System" folders.  I have requested clarification from the programmers to see if there is any other known affect/reason for making those folder "System" folders.

  • Yes, I have noticed it. If it's only this, I can live without the icon... Let's see what programmers will say.
