I'm trying to create a report that produces a BOM grouped by individual installation and location (each on their own sheet in an EXCEL file). The report will then be linked to the corresponding Panel Layout Page.
The problem I'm running into is the grouping is working but the data is garbage:
If I add partnumber to the group, the quantities correct; but now I have 62 pages of garbage
Here is my report
Hi Stephen. I would look at the BOM_Qty - Letter template and use that as a basis, so "Bill of Materials" and Installation and Location would be in the PageHeader band like you have it, but so would the Item, Quantity, Part Number, etc. column header table you have in the GroupHeader1 band. Then the table with the actual data fields in it would be in the GroupHeader1 band by itself, and grouping by partnumber would be applied to the GroupHeader1 band.
Here is the setup:
Here is the result:
I still need it the pages to be separated by Installation & location. How do I make it do that?
Ah yes. Sorry, I did not keep in mind your ultimate goal with this template. What you want to do is to group by Installation and Location, then have a sub grouping by part number. You do this by inserting another GroupHeader band and GroupFooter band so there are two of each. The Installation and Location fields and column headers will go in the outer group header GroupHeader2. The grouping for GroupHeader2 is set as such: 0 GroupField > Field Name: Installation, 1 GroupField > Field Name: Location.
The data goes in the inner group header band GroupHeader1. The grouping for GroupHeader1 is on partnumber.
The Page Break control goes in the footer band that corresponds to the group header that contains Installation and Location; in other words it goes in GroupFooter2.

That did it. Thank you very much.
