symbol creation wizard

I have an existing power supply part with terminals that have labels which always appear, I added a couple terminals for this specific project (using the step 5 in "Symbol Creation Wizard" Place connection points) however, the "default" setting for the drawings is to turn off the layer ECT_DGRM_CPT_TEXT so now the labels for my connections are not visible unless I manually turn the layer back ON, yet the other terminal labels for the connection points which were already there appear fine (they are on another layer, I can change this in the editor, but the system automatically changes these back apparently.

The other labels for the connection points that work are placed and are not in the "connection point listing" -... how were they placed?

the ones shown in the picture as "visible" are the ones that disappear... the ones I do not see in the list "stay" and always appear...

  • In the wizard, there is a tab called "standard attributes", way at the bottom you can add...

  • Robin, the Display Connection Point Text toggle turns on and off the ECT_DGRM_CPNT_TEXT level/layer. For this to work, the software automatically puts the connection point text inserted in Create Symbol onto this level.

If the Visible Text field for a connection point is blank in Create Symbol yet you see text when the symbol is inserted, then you are either comparing different symbol definitions or the text you are seeing is not actually connection point text. Note that for connection point text to appear when connection information is displayed (Terminal/Pin-Plug Manager, Wiring Manager, Wire List reports, etc.) the Visible Text field needs to be populated in the symbol definition, or by the user, or by the assigned device family. The device family overrides the symbol definition and the user cannot violate the connection point text of the family.

If connection point text is always hidden when opening a page, try toggling on Display Connection Point Text instead of turning on the ECT_DGRM_CPNT_TEXT. If you have trouble finding this toggle on the ribbon, try Options > User Options > Viewing Preferences.
