Sorting by different fields - missing entries

Hi all,

For our Bill of Materials report template, we are trying to sort the table by Balloon number. We are doing this via the GroupField Collection Editor as shown below:

When we sort by partnumber, the Description and Manufacturer info of one of our parts is not showing up, shown below (we have checked our Parts Database Manager to see if we hadn't forgotten to fill it out).

But when we try to sort by Balloon_ANUM one of our balloon numbers is not showing up anymore, and the Description and Manufacturer info for one of our parts is still not showing, shown below:

How can we resolve this issue?

Thanks,

John

  • Sorry for the late reply John. I thought I reproduced the problem at first, but then I realized that I actually did not assign a balloon number to one of the parts in the project. So this part number appears first in the list when sorting by balloon_ANUM. Are you sure this is not your case also? I would expect the value in the ITEM column to be 6 for the first row according to your previous screen shots, but I just wanted to make sure.

If all your parts indeed have balloon numbers assigned to them, please provide the .RPT file for your report template via the Secure File Upload procedure.

Hi Matt, attached is our template file. I'm not sure what we did, but all our balloon numbers are appearing now. However the quantity of the part numbers seem to be incorrect for some of the parts. Can you please check if you get incorrect quantity numbers when using our template? I have already checked that each device ID has a part number with a quantity of 1, and also in the Parts Database Manager the Quantity_Per_Unit is 1. Thanks again for your help.

  • John, what I found when using your template was that the first part number listed had the wrong quantity. This part number also has no balloon number assigned in the project. I also found that some other part numbers were missing from the report. What was happening was that since you are sorting by balloon_ANUM in the GroupHeader band, it groups and quantifies all part numbers with no balloon number together, of which I had three, but only lists the data for one. So the quantity for the first part number listed on the report actually represented three part numbers and the other two part numbers were not listed elsewhere on the report.

The solution for me was to group by partnumber and balloon_ANUM:
