Issue with wire labels not staying in assigned position and hidden wire labels keep showing

Hello,

I have an issue where wire labels refuse to remain hidden or have their alignment changed i.e. from 'middle' to 'left or top'. The problem is localised to where we have created device families that share potential groups so that the wire number can be presented on multiple drawings. I have seen a post dating a year back stating that this is a known issue and has not yet been fixed.

Just to be clear, moving the wire label such as using the alignment tool, using the text position option or setting the alignment position in the options has proved ineffective. Once you re-enter the drawing the wire label goes back to where it decides it wants to be.

Could you please advise if the issue has been resolved or if it is likely to be? Or suggest an alternative solution?

Kind Regards

  • Hi Kane,

"Labels refuse to  remain hidden or have or have their alignment changed .The problem is localised to where we have created device families that share potential groups so that the wire number can be presented on multiple drawings."

As label are refuse to hide please check the 'Display Wire Number'( refer the below image ) please try toggle that button.

Here you can change the alignment by changing the text position,

    1)Select the wire number

2)Right click there select the Text Position

Make sure that if you want to align wire numbers manually  grid should be 'OFF'

Place the wire label where ever you want to place it manually.

If you are still not able to change the wire label please share your project with us so that we can look into your project.

  • Hi Avanti,

Thanks for your response. I've attached a screenshot below to show you a typical problematic wire number '401'.

As you can see, the wire number 401 is middle aligned. If you change the alignment to 'left top', it will work while you are in the drawing. As soon as you close the drawing and then open it back up, the wire number '401' will revert back to the middle.

This happens if you use the 'text position' method as you have mentioned above (refer to my original post where I stated that this didn't work), trying to change the alignment in the 'edit wire' dialog, using the alignment tool in the design task or manually dragging the label anywhere. Hiding the label doesn't work either because as soon as you re-enter the drawing it displays the wire number again.

Toggling the 'display wire number' setting does turn off the wire numbers, and they stay off when you re-enter the drawing. Unfortunately, I need to display the wire numbers. I also noticed when you toggle this setting that the 'display label' check box in the wiring manager still stays checked.

    Kind Regards

  • Hi Kane,

Thank you for the update, As mentioned by Avanti can you please share the Project Backup on the above link. And also it would be great if you could let us know what version of Promis.e you are currently using and also the version of Promis.e in which the Project was created.
