Do Promise-e makes Microstation work easier? Is there any examples of automating design in Railway Signalling circuits?
Hi Shreyas,Promis.e is a electrical software where you can design Schematic Circuits, Single line Diagrams, Panel Layouts and generate Reports BOM, Graphical Plan, Wiring Drawing and many more things which are handled by Promis.e in a better way compared to Microstation as Microstation is Drafting for 2d & 3d Drawing. You can visit the Bentley Learn Server for Videos related to Promis.e different functions, Learn Server Link: https://learn.bentley.com/app/Public/BrowseLearningPaths?productlineId=336&CustomLP=False#Regards,Satish Saptasagar
I've been using promis.e with different types of railway signalling circuits. Are there any particular things you're interested in?
In general promis.e is intelligent database-releated software, Microstation is only drafting software in railway signalling software (althought quite widely used).
Best regards, Wojtek

I am looking for the method for producing Automatic bookwiring, signal plan, SER interconnections and also other types of signalling circuits.
For example, I want circuits and analysis in the form of blocks/cells automatically generated from the Rack Layout.
My job as an individual designer comprises a lot of different types of signalling devices, both relay-based and coputer-based, or even modify existing mechanical interlocking. No totally automated workflow is possible in my case (not enough standarization).
My typical workflow is:
1. Creating electrical diagrams. It's manual job, but with database connection (=with logic). As you know singalling schematics includes a lot of typical diagrams which can be copied from previous project or a macro might be created.
2. Placing cables, placing element on rack layout
3. Generating reports/drawings: relay contacts/PLC usage, wiring diagrams, BOM list etc. It's the moment where most of promis.e power is used, these task are automated.
But be aware that while promis.e contains some manufacturer's catalogues (if obsolete and unusable in practise), it does not include any typical signalling catalogues, you have to create them by yourself. It might be because of that signalling market it's still very hardly connected to country-specific manufacturers. Good luck after bad, software is very flexible in creating your own symbols and parts.
For project automation (generating another project from existing one), promis.e offers Project API builder, but I haven't used it.
There is some analysis avaliable, like error checking, wire sizing etc. But no real elecrical analysis like PSpice modelling.
I am not sure what you mean by "Signal plan". If you mean track layout with all signals and signalling-specific info placed onto it, then no automation. Just plan CAD work with no logic, the same as in Microstation. The same for other types of external devices (site maps etc.) - also manual job. There is promis.e for rail signalling, but without standarization and libraries forced by infrastructure manager (like in Sweden), it costs too much work to customize.
