Promise V8i Panel Layout Help

I need to create a panel layout for a schematic drawing that is already done. Is there a seminar or a guide somewhere to help me get started. Having trouble defining panduit, dinrail and such.

  • Me too having same doubt. How to calculate the din rails and other consumables like this

  • The built in tutorial contains steps and examples for creating Panel Layouts.  You can access the tutorial in most recent versions from the Welcome window, and can get to the Welcome Window if you already closed it by going to the Help menu at the top of the screen and choosing to open the Welcome dialog.  The parts specific to dinrail and Panduit will not be in the tutorial as that only covers the basics as sort of a quick start guide.  Wire Containment features like dinrail and Panduit will have information in the built in Help files and as parts of the training classes available from the Bentley Learn Server:  http://learn.bentley.com

  • If you are asking about how the software calculates the length of the dinrail or wireways, it is based on the length and the part number chosen.  For example, here in the US, most wireways is sold in 6ft long (72 inch) pieces.  So the symbol for the wireway is created in Symbol Creation as 72 inches long.  Then when you draw it on a Layout page, it uses the length based on the drawing measurements.  So if you draw a 36 inch piece, It will say you need 36 inches of wireway.  If you create your own wireway or dinrail symbols, you have to make sure you create them to the correct length to match the values in the parts database as described in the Help files or else it will not work correctly.

  • Now the software calculates the din rail length correctly.

In India most of the din rails sold in 2000mm. Still there is an error while we draw the din rail in panel layout page.

If i draw the din rail 2000mm then the model appearing correctly.

if i draw the din rail 1000mm then the total model getting strings as attached image.

so i wouldn't mention the din rail mounting hole as its stringed. Can any one please help on this.

  • Because changing the size of the dinrail scales the graphics and doesn't just chop the length of the symbol, you can't have a hole pattern that will work the way you are hoping unless you only use full length pieces.  You may have noticed that our default dinrail symbols do not have hole patterns for this very reason.
