How to Disable ProjectWise Desktop Integration with Substation CONNECT

      Product(s): Substation CONNECT
      Version(s): through 10.02.00.31
      Environment:
      Area: ProjectWise
      Subarea: N/A

    Background

When Substation CONNECT is launched, below dialog appears which prompts to connect to ProjectWise Datasource. It can take a while before the software search for available datasources. This increases the time required to open the software and start working with it. Also, some users may not be integrated in a ProjectWise environment and may be working locally. For them this dialog is redundant.

Steps given below would allow users to disable this dialog to appear while start up.

    Steps to Accomplish

    Change ProjectWise Installation:

    1. Go to Control Panel > Program and Features and select ProjectWise Explorer

    2. Right click and select Change from the context menu

    3. Click Next on the subsequent dialog and get to the below dialog.

    4. Expand ProjectWise Explorer and Tools and then uncheck iDesktop Integration

    5. Then click Modify to apply the changes made

Note: This change will be applicable to all applications that use ProjectWise Integration on the machine

    Without Changing ProjectWise Installation:

If you do not want to change the ProjectWise installation and still want to disable desktop integration with ProjectWise then:

    1. Go to C:\Program Files\Bentley\Bentley Substation CONNECT Edition\Substation\config\appl

    2. Open pw.cfg file in Notepad

    3. Remove the '#' sign before the highlighted variable and save it
