This includes any updates, revisions ,etc. that you make on either the ProjectWise OR GSA side. If you make changes to the GSA you must update the workspace in PW again. Typically I recommend a unmanaged (or classical) workspace for Map and not a managed workspace.

RE: Bentley Map User not integrating with Projectwise

The settings need to be done in ProjectWise and not in Bentley Geospatial. Once the project and its users workspaces has been added via ProjectWise Administrator (on server) , then you must assign the appropriate managed workspaces to the folder. All file under the folder must open with the assigned user workspace. I do not know this procedure in details and I hope someone will have some inputs about it since I am looking to make it works on my side.

I hope that helps a little.
Best regards,

Jerry- I may have confused you by using the word user instead of custom user workspace. All of my coworkers had multiple custom user workspaces on their computer that they had used with projectwise for years prior to me adding a custom user workspace for a new Bentley Map project to their computer. My question was whether I needed to do anything special in Geospatial to allow my user workspace to work with Projectwise. We all have Projectwise Select Series 4 which is the only version that can work with Bentley Map.

RE: Bentley Map User not integrating with Projectwise

the PW.cfg file should be placed in the /appl folder. this should be a standard place to put it. If it is not there on the users computer, then I would be questioning if they have a valid PW Explorer install ???

RE: Bentley Map User not integrating with Projectwise

Thank you Jerry!

I was not aware that there was a pw.cfg file. That explains a lot. All of the other users on the computer are loading the pw.cfg but I never told the user I created to load this configuration file. Where would I get information on a pw.cfg file and whether I add to the macros or files part of my user workspace?

RE: Bentley Map User not integrating with Projectwise

Since there are so many other products involved AND workspaces can be very complicated, it is very hard to comment on what may be happening. As far as PW is concerned, is there a PW.CFG file in the /appl folder ? Does this file get loaded ?

To check to see if the pw.cfg file gets loaded, can you add the -debug command line switch to the shortcut used to start up Map ? This will create a file called msdebug.txt file that will show the progression of the loading of the config files/variables as the workspace is loaded. It will also list the final configuration variable settings. This file will go a long way in determining what is happening in the workspace loading.
