Is there a help document on how to bring BING maps into Bentley Map SS4?
I've added a Video showing the step from generating the Bing Maps Key to creating the Workspace variable and attaching Bing Map using Raster Manager.
With Bing Map terms and conditions, are corporate users allowed to freely print and distribute Bing Map content in drawings?
Is it possible (within terms and conditions) to use one key for all corporate MicroStation users instead of each MicroStation user to create their own Bing Map account?
Thanks
We've been looking at a similar issue today Krister. Can you attach the file, or open a Service Request to help troubleshoot the problem?
I've been able to get Bing Maps to work (CONNECT U7) via Raster Manager, but not View Attributes. As we implement severe firewall restrictions (CONNECTION Client wouldn't even work), I've been working with our IT security folks to determine where the issues are. We *did* finally enable CONNECTION Client to function, and we began on working on the View Attributes issue, but then the holidays and other work have redirected my efforts. I had just "assumed" there were additional port issues with the View Attributes and it isn't a high enough priority at the time to warrant additional work. Interesting that it *may* not be an issue on our firewall but rather an issue with the application...
Bruce & Krister,
Were you successful displaying Bing Maps as a MicroStation Background?
Bing Map Background Requirements:
Have not pursued it further. Just tried again (View Attributes) and does not work. I AM logged into CONNECT Services and DO have a GCS active and did set the background to both street and aerial. No success.
Still no success for me. I will give it a try with CE 8 and get back.

With CE8 it works. The maps showed in all the files I tried to turn them on.
Have just loaded CONNECT Update 8, and now what *was* working is now *failing*. I am using the latest CONNECT Client (10.00.10.19). I open a model with a GCS, and try to set the view's background. Still no Bing Map. Additionally, now when I try to use Raster Manager and attach a Bing Map, I get:
"The specified authentication login name or password is invalid = [7060]"
Hi Bruce, you have that mistake because you are not currently signed in as "CONNECTION Client".

When I attempted it, I was. I have just tried again:
You can see:
1) I am signed into CONNECTION Client
2) I have a GCS defined
3) I used Raster Manager to load a Bing Map (The "View" window setting for Bing Maps has never worked- but Raster Manager once did)

Bruce, Check to see that your Bing Map Key has not expired on the Bing Map website. I have one that I created a couple of years ago that is expired. In some cases you can use the Update link to refresh it:
NOTE: In the CONNECT edition this is not necessary. No Keys are required using Bing Maps with a CONNECT edition product; through either the View Attributes, or Raster Manager.
