I am using MicroStation V8i 08.11.09.608. I recently updated the linework in a DGN file and referenced it into another DGN file. For some reason, it identifies the reference file elements as XFM features, which they are not. The elements in the referenced file were not created using Bentley Map and when I open the original DGN file, they are identified as MicroStation elements. Why are these elements changing from a MicroStation element to an XFM feature? Is there some setting somewhere I'm not aware of that I need to change? I have several other files referenced and none of them have this issue.
Hi,

This MicroStation build was not released as an official standalone product, but as the prerequisite for several later released civil products and also for Bentley Descartes. Can you confirm how / in what configuration / as a basement for what product do you use MicroStation?

There are two reasons why the elements could be identified as XFM elements:
Can you post the file you mentioned?

You can remove the XFM attributes from the elements by using the Export to MicroStation Elements command in the Map Manager. To do this, initialize Bentley Map, open the Map Manager, then right-click on the Layer that you need to change. Select the Export... option and make your selections on the dialog box.
