Store attributes in a database

Hi all

I have problems storring the attributes in an ODBC connected database.

I have created a Map project using GSA and the project is linked to a database. And I have added database links to the features. So everything should be okay.

But the attributes are not stored in the db...

I have searched about information what the db shall contain and I can only find that it shall contain a MS_Catalog tabel. But is there anything else that I shall remember?

I'm using Map SS4.

I know this is very few information, so just ask if you need more.

I hope you can help :-)

Kind regards

Morten

  • Morten,

To insert database rows during "Import" operations in the Bentley Map Interoperability application use the "Feature Parameters > Mapped Name" and "Property Parameters > Mapped Name" sections to assign feature class and business property mappings. Please note that business property mappings between the imported data and database table columns must take into account the data type and width.

  • Morten,

I understand that whn you add a feature thru the command manager, it goes well. Is that right ?

    What you import exactly ?

I'm curious about that part : "the attributes are stored as XML not in the db".

  • Hi all

Sorry - I wrote something wrong - I meant XFM not XML...

The place function works. The attributes are stored in the correct tabel. And also the promote tool works.

    Here is what I'm doing:

    1) I have a GML file that I'm importing using the GIS import tool - see below.

I Map the feature and the attributes to the correct feature from the GSA project. The attributes are in this case stored in a field name that is 255 character strings long.

    2) When I have imported the GML file. The features are located on the correct level. I can get the attributes using the get XFM features. But the Review Attributes does not work, because the attributes are stored as XFM - not in the db. See screenshots below.

    So what is missing?

    Kind regards

  • Hi again

When I make a Data Browser view, I get this error:

Database related error happened for instance with id 83e6eda3-8b80-4d17-b32f-257a627a803f. This is why it is read only.

I have tried closing all connections to the db, but still get the same error...

    Kind regards
