Hello,
we changed from Bentley Map SS2 to SS3 and now we've got problems in calculating the area of collection-polygons. Previously we used the Initial values in Bentley Geospatial Connector Administrator you may see here:
Now the Geometry_Area Attribute (and length Attribute for lines) seem to be removed and I just can set it up like in the following screenshot (Connector Admin 08.11.11.28):
That might be fine for usual polygon but not for disjoint polygon collections. If you have two polygons representing one Feature of a collection, only the area of one of these polygons will be calculated.
Does anyone know a way to get the area of the whole collection (included disjoint elements or holes)? And what happened to the Bentley Map attributes Geometry_Area or Geometry_Length which were also displayed in the DataBrowser (greyed out)?
Thank you in advance,
Maik

Oh, I see that these attributes are new to SELECTSeries 4. I guess we have to wait for an upgrade. In SELECTSeries 3 I can't see any business properties for length or area of geometries yet.
But what will the correct Syntax be to set Initial value in Geospatial Admin? One of the four that I tried?
Hello Maik,
Maik I see that these attributes are new to SELECTSeries 4.
No. These geometric properties from database are in Bentley Map Ss3 and you should see them (from XFM and from database) in Data Browser. It exists two variables to disable geometric property. If those are not ON in your project, I cannot explain why you not see them.See Bentley Map help file to retrieve page about Geometric Properties.
For the syntax of expression used, I will guess the short one should work. Of course, the Database_Area should exist and display to be read.I hope someone else will bring better help on these expression syntax. Best regards,Sebastien Lefrancois [Bentley]
Maik Schulze Are the Database_* properties part of our database tables, is it necessary to create these?
No. These are automatically created and the values from Spatial database connection. Their values are from spatial properties stored/calculated in database. Otherwise, it will display XFM geometric properties; their values is calculated by Bentley Map.
This issue could be related to Polygon Collection. This features have change format between Ss2 and ss3.
Also, I see you are using ProjectWise Connectors for Oracle. It could be related to this application as well.I do not have this setup to be able to reproduce
If not more solution are bring by other post, I will suggest to filed a Service Request. Especially if you have a workflow have been broken by updating application version.
Sorry for the inconvenient.
