This is probably a very simply question, but how do I set the default path that is used by the Geospatial Administrator? When I create a Shema and export it, all the files are generated in the correct place, but if I try to run the user workspace (or generate a shortcut), it puts "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\...." as the path to the to the workspace, but the workspace exists on the server drive not the local.
I hope this makes sense. Cheers Ian
Ian,
I tested it, and you're right, It doen't take the good path, even if you specified it correctly in GSA. The problem is that currently, when you create a shortcut or when you press run, GSA uses a value that you entered at the installation of Map for the workspace directory. In fact, it seems to be a problem that GSA acts this way, I've reported the problem, this should be fixed soon.
For the shortcut, you can edit it manually in GSA, just use your workspace path to replace -wr"The/Old/Path" with -wr"Your/Path" in the argument field. You can also add add -wr"Your/Path" at the end of the target field of your start menu Map shortcut, It will always uses this path at your default workspace root when you'll use this shortcut.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Mathieu
Let's see if we can get this straight:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Bentley\Workspace (plus) Project\Examples\Geospatial (plus) geo_example
<everything specified above> plus designer
Given this information, do I understand correctly that you have your project root information (see point 1) pointing at a location on the server and that hitting the Run button or creating the shortcut still assumes your XFM project is local?
Cheers,
Gijsbert
Thanks, but I have already set both of those paths.
Cheers Ian
You have to enter you path at two different places typically:
-In your workspace node, you have to specify your "Base Source Dir". It seems that you're doing this.
-In your "Geospatial Project" node, it's the root node in the GSA treeview. You have to specify a "Workspace Root Directory". I think that's doing this should fix your problem.
Hope this helps!
