Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to compute the area of intersection between two elements belonging to same layer. I tried Overlay in the Map Manager however it did not help. Would appreciate any help on this. I tried Create Region, Utility -> Data Cleanup, but non did work
Please refer attached image where area of circled area is required.
Thanks in advance,
Kiran.
Hi Kiran,

Sorry, I have to apologize, I did not read your question with enough attention (and often an area is an output of the region intersection analysis) :-(
You can try 'create region flood' key-in that allows to create new shapes flooding closed area. You can also play with available settings (keep origina, flooding mode for interior objects etc.).

No problem Jan.
I had tried the tools on the toolbar you have mentioned, however, I could not perform selection for them to work. I was getting message Feature not valid for Tool. Please refer the image pasted below.
What version of Bentley Map do you use? Mine toolbar looks different in Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 4). And what about the tool parameters, are there any displayed in Tool Settings dialog?

Great. I wrote "create region flood" and you use "intersection" instead of "flood". Frankly, why are you asking for help if you don't follow the advice afterward?
Unknown said:So, the flood option will help to achieve what I am trying to do?
Because not all requirements are known (it would be automatic or manual, what about element type of the result, its level etc.) it's hard to say. But I am quite sure it's the tool you should start with. And why you don't try it yourself, it's probably faster than to write your question?
Dear Jan,
In my first post, I had listed the options I had tried, then only I turned to help. My statement was I had tried the tools on the toolbar you have mentioned, however, I could not perform selection for them to work.
I really am failing to see the reason for you giving me advice on whether should I ask for help on this forum or not or how much time it would take to try the options. If you do not want to help, that is fine.

Don't understand this sentence. So far there is not any proof from your side that you tried Create Region tool in Flood mode as recommended (and tested by myself, so there is pretty high probability it will work for you also). What you wrote and what is visible in your screen capture you tried something else: Create Region tool but not in Flood mode, because this mode does not require to select any element but to identify area by data point.
