Bentley Map Mobile Win x86?

Are there any plans for Bentley Map Mobile in 32-bit version for Windows? 64-bit version doesn't make sense as lot of Windows Tablets for which this could be used is with 32-bit OS.

  • Oto,

There are no plans for a 32-bit version.

It's true but these tablets are often low HW specification and are more like home toys than serious working tool. I guess the most of them can be reinstalled to 64bit Windows, because only the first Atom generation supported 32bit instructions only, current Atoms are 64bit.

For last several years I recommend to all my customers to buy and use only 64bit Windows devices (even by Microsoft there is no reason to use 32bit version from Windows 7 time). Similarly it's bad idea to buy cheap tablets with Android 5 or even older, because they will be never updated to any new version by manufacturer.

A sad fact is a tablet with 64bit Windows is far more expensive than Android version with the newest version inside. On the other hand, Windows tablets I guess offer smaller maintenance cost and updates are ensured (which typically does not happen in the case of Android).

    With regards,

Valid point. Atom(or Pentium/Celeron) tablets should be avoided.

IMHO all Tablets are home toys rather than serious tool and do not have high expectations. To be used as working tool they need to be military grade. Nowadays price/performance is higher for Tablets as prices are driven down for them. Althought ARM processors can't be directly compared to Intel/AMD processors.
