I am having a problem with filled polygons and MapManager. When I open the design (DGN) file the polygons fill ok, but when I start MapManager, some of the fill disappears. I have tried to to recreate the feature and the same thing happens.
I also have general problems importing polygons created in MapInfo Professional, especially if there is a space in the file name (or the file name possibly starts with a number). I think this could have something to do with the way MapInfo handles these by putting an underscore as a space. This also applies to referenced files.
Cheers Ian
Hi Ian,
On the polygon fill... are these 'plain' polygon features created with Bentey Map. Any way you can share an example of this, e.g. on the file section of the BE Communities.
On the import of MapInfo ... that sounds like an issue that we should look into in more detail. What exactly is happening. If you open a MapInfo file with spaces, does it not show up in the Interoperability dialog? Or does it show up but the import does not work as expected?
Cheers,
Gijsbert
The spaces in file names will either cause Bentley Map to crash (and generate an error report), or I sometime get this dialog.
This was fairly easy to reproduce, just attempting to open a TAB file with spaces in the filename seems to do the trick. It seems to be an issue with bot the V8 XM Edition and V8i versions of Bentley Map.
Sounds like something that needs to be fixed.
The work around is an obvious one: remove the spaces from the filename and the import should work.
When you look at fixing it, also check files that start with numbers, and columns that have spaces or start with numbers. MapInfo insert an underscore when there is a space in the name and when a file or column name start with a number.
This issue has been filed as TR 251510 and is scheduled to be resolved in a Q1 2009 Bentley Map V8i maintenance release.
