When configuring a feature, if a DATE field is empty, I want to be able to set the feature's status to "A". How to adjust the WATCHER to check an empty value?

The setting you did work to me. You simply need to set "A" as default value for "STATUT_R". Then, in placement dialog, you need action on toggle box to trigger the watcher you defined.

For a better perfomance, a colleague just suggest to modify the Synch Item Watcher - "Value to Set" to the following cexpression:
(strlen("[AQU_BORNEINCENDIE_P_Collection:DATEABANDON]")>0) ? "[AQU_BORNEINCENDIE_P_Collection:STATUT_R]" : "A"
CORRECTION: In this case, please set Value Type = cexpression.
