Userdefined coordinatesystem i PowerMap V8i

Hi

I have to setup a special coordinat system (Transversal Mercator Projection) to use in the Copenhagen Metro Project.

In the previous version of PowerMap I could do this trough  the "Coordinate System Settings" but in the new make of GeoCoordinate system I can't find where!.

When I look in the help file it tells me that I can key-in "DIALOG GCOORD MAIN" and there are a fine picture of the dialogbox --but it does not exist ??

Where to set up a coordinate sytem that is not built in ?

Please do not tell me that it is a option that has been removed :-(

Map and Power Map provide the ability to define a coordinate system (transverse mercator, Lambert Conformal Conic, Oblique ...) upon one of the various existing geodetic datums. They do not provide any interface to define a new geodetic datum. Is that what you intend to do ? From the fact you have rotation, scale, shift parameters I think this is your intent.

We currently have 4 variations of the Nahrwan datum: NHRWN-O (for Masirah Island), NHRWN-S (for Saudi Arabia), NHRWN-U

(for the United Arad Emirates) and EPSG:6270 (general use). Can you provide us the parameters you need so we can check if any one is satisfactory ?

Why did you remove the "geodectic datum editor" ?????

I'm living in germany where we have a lot of "local" coordinate systems, so where do i do the input for "bursa-wolf" shift???

  • Frank,

The Bentley Map Product Managers took note of the fact you, and many others, need to add new datum definitions and will decide how and when to provide this functionality back. In the meantime you can use the Bentley Map XM datum editor if it is available to you as the datum definition files should be 100% compatible with the v8i version. Please do not use the older GeoGraphics versions as the file format did change. Although older data files are fully compatible with v8i, newer data files should not be compatible with GeoGraphics application.
