I have to setup a special coordinat system (Transversal Mercator Projection) to use in the Copenhagen Metro Project.

In the previous version of PowerMap I could do this trough the "Coordinate System Settings" but in the new make of GeoCoordinate

Re: Userdefined coordinatesystem i PowerMap V8i

Hello Jeff

Is there any good news when the geographic datum editor will come back!

We need it urgently if we shall go to the v8i editions of Microstation , Microstation Map and Powermap.

Frank,

The Bentley Map Product Managers took note of the fact you, and many others, need to add new datum definitions and will decide how and when to provide this functionality back. In the meantime you can use the Bentley Map XM datum editor if it is available to you as the datum definition files should be 100% compatible with the v8i version. Please do not use the older GeoGraphics versions as the file format did change. Although older data files are fully compatible with v8i, newer data files should not be compatible with GeoGraphics application.

Map and Power Map provide the ability to define a coordinate system (transverse mercator, Lambert Conformal Conic, Oblique ...) upon one of the various existing geodetic datums. They do not provide any interface to define a new geodetic datum. Is that what you intend to do ? From the fact you have rotation, scale, shift parameters I think this is your intent.

We currently have 4 variations of the Nahrwan datum: NHRWN-O (for Masirah Island), NHRWN-S (for Saudi Arabia), NHRWN-U

(for the United Arad Emirates) and EPSG:6270 (general use). Can you provide us the parameters you need so we can check if any one is satisfactory ?

Why did you remove the "geodectic datum editor" ?????

I'm living in germany where we have a lot of "local" coordinate systems, so where do i do the input for "bursa-wolf" shift???

New to Bentley products here, so require detailed steps...

Have a batch of as-builts that need to be reprojected to a new Coordinate System, my queries are:

1- I have all transformation parameters of the new Corrdinate System. How do I incorporate them into the custom coordinate system in Microstation GeoGraphics? (shift, rotation & scale.)

Nahrwan datum (using Clarke1880 ellipsoid) to WGS84 datum (realized by ITRF2000 coordinate frame) .

2- Do all cells, blocks and annotations get projected once done?

Thank you,

Information related to the process of defining custom coordinate systems can be found in the Bentley PowerMap V8i (and Bentley Map V8i) user documentation in the "Upgrading a Custom Coordinate System from a Previous Version of Bentley Map or MicroStation GeoGraphics" section. This information is also available online at the following location:

Since all the coordinate system and map projections were mmove to the baseline Microstaiton in v8i, this functionality has moved from the typical Map fucntionality to the underlying Microstation fucntionality. For instance, from the PowerMap v8i documentation.

Geographic Coordinate System Support
Apply geographic coordinate system from a coordinate system library
Apply geographic coordinate system from a source DGN file
Apply geographic coordinate system from an attached reference file
Apply master geographic coordinate system to attached reference files
Attach reference file using geographic coordinate system transform
Attach reference file using AEC coordinate system transform
Set geographic coordinate system as ACS
Construct geographic coordinate system from Google Earth placemarks
Support for multiple geographic coordinate system libraries
Edit Reprojection Settings

This is now typically placed in the Tools->Geographic menubar for v8i.
