Thank you for your questions Rajendra. These are age-old issues encountered where GIS meets Cartography. For simple Mapping and GIS needs, try to limit the amount of points, segments, and detail when you place the features. Take care to design your Features with the end-result in mind. In cases where you don't have control over data quality, Bentley Map's Advanced Map Finishing tools provide more robust data cleanup and editing options like cartographic-smoothing, font selection, and ordering of labels.

1. In Bentley Map, Features are made-up of geometries in the DGN File. The input geometry segments (for linear and area features) dictate how many labels will be produced per feature. Take care when designing your Features so that post-production editing will be limited, and you can spend your time designing and composing the map for the best visual impact. Use MicroStation tools if necessary to join segments, consolidate polygons, eliminate points, smooth geometry, and find the right match between too few and too many labels. It helps to convert Labels to Annotation, when can be included and edited for best placement.

2. The topic of re-positioning labels was covered in a Bentley Map Webinar presented last year. When labels are view-dependent, they remain the same size regardless of the view scale. When labels are view-independent, they vary in size depending on the view scale. Have a look and see if those suggestions help in your case.

3. Formulas can be entered using Property Based Annotation expressions. This is detailed in the Bentley Geospatial Administrator help file. During placement on the map, Label Settings and Criteria are set in the labeling dialog box.
