Map Mobile crash...data loss

A field crew has experienced a Map Mobile crash (IOS). They were making redlines when this happened. Three questions come to mind:

1. Is there a backup system?

2. Where does the backup data reside?

3. Is the upload to server function going to backup redline data? I dont care about the i-model. We can bring that back with no issue.

Thoughts or suggestions?

  • Cliff,

The redline data collected in Bentley Map Mobile is stored separately on the device in a .markupdb file. On iOS the .markupdb file is accessible in the Bentley Map Mobile documents folder using iTunes. Uploading one or more selected redline layers to the server would in fact make copies of the .markupdb file.

Was data lost during the crash? Are you able to provide steps that would reproduce the crash?

    Regards,

    Jeff Bielefeld [Bentley]

  • The crash didn't happen to me. Here is what the crew chief reported:

    1. He was redlining; using the place arrow tool .
    2. Map mobile crashed when he touched the screen to place the arrow.
    3. The app closed with no errors or messages. He was forced to the home screen.
    4. The redline file he was working in was not in the i-model when he returned to the project.

I will forward your information about the markup data being stored in an Itunes folder.
