Data Extraction or Change, Buffers, Overlays

Hallo,

I have 4 questions for Map SS2.

1.) I have 2 features - a parcel feature with the parcel number and a zone code, and a zone feature with zone key and  zone name, The zone code in parcel feature is 4 digits, the key in zone parcel is 2digits for country and the 4 digits used in parcel feature. A Join does not work because he can't find matching entries - right. So I want to change the zone feature with generating the 4-digit zone code from a substring of the zone key.

I added an empty datafield to zone feature and want to fill it with the 4 digits substring from the zone key. I have'nt found the way to do so. Is it to define an method or operation in the GSA? And if, how? Is it then for the creation of items while importing the data or is it usable also in Map from the command window?

2.) I have to create buffers for linestring features - Pipelines equipped with data dor diameter... Can I define the buffer width depending on the value of a data field of the feature?

3.) While placing buffers for different diameters of pipelines in steps (per diameter with "where"-conditions) I create a different buffer feature for each buffer width. To create a single feature I used an overlay with the "Union" method, but if I have 2 overlapping bufers from parallel pipelines, the overlay creates 3 features: left part, overlapping part, right part. For an overlay with parcels to determine the part of parcel used I need the overlay as a correct addition from buffer feature 1 and buffer feature 2. What's the way to solve this? I tried to merge, but if 2 overlapping buffers create a hole between 2 overlaps, the Merge ignores the hole and closes it.

4.) If a buffer is created, is it then handled as a static feature or can I change the parameters used in the command to calculate the buffer with another width par exemple?

I'm restricted to Map SS2, because I work with Powercivil, and SS2 is the last completly working version of Powercivil for DACH. I searched for answers in the Help files, the existing community topics and my training data, but can't find anything, so I hope for hel here.

And yes, it's urgent. Never have heard of a non-urgent issue...

Thank You for help and best regards
