Bentley Map - Browse window

Hi,

We are using Bentley Map Select Series 4, Version 08.11.09.xxx

We have added database views (from Oracle Spatial) to the Bentley Map through the XFM. When a browse window is opened using right click in the map manager on any view, some rows in the window appear in grey color while some appear in Black color. I searched about this in the help documentation / online, but did not get anything.

Can anybody help on this regarding the reason for this behavior?

Thanks in advance,

Kiran.

  • Kiran,

The color coding in the Data Browser is used to represent the editing state of the feature instances with black indicating instances that have been queried into the design file, locked and available for editing, and grey indicating those instances that have not been locked and are not available for editing. Please note that when working with Oracle Spatial, the Data Browser effectively performs queries against a "union" of both database instances (rows) and local feature instances.

  • Hi Jeff,

    I checked in Bentley Map.

Initially, my layer (pointing to the Oracle Spatial View) was turned off. I right clicked that layer and browsed to the attribute values in Browser window. All of the rows were appearing grey. Then I turned on the layer, Bentley Map queried the layer and displayed the polygons from it. Then I closed the Browse window and re-opened it, now all of rows were appearing in Black color because all of the polygons were queried inside Bentley Map.

Thanks for the help and explanation. Much appreciated.
