Bentley Map CONNECT Edition Update 1 release announcement

We are very pleased to announce that all versions of “Bentley Map CONNECT Edition Update 1” have been posted to the Fulfillment Center.

This includes:

  • Bentley Map PowerView
  • Bentley Map
  • Bentley Map Enterprise
  • Note:  Bentley Map SDK will be available shortly as a separate download.

Bentley Map and Bentley Map Enterprise now has support for PostGIS databases.

Additional highlights are as follows:

  • Print Preparation is now included in Bentley Map and Bentley Map Enterprise.
  • Publish i-model is now included Bentley Map and Bentley Map Enterprise.
  • The following new ribbon-based workflows are included:
    • Map Modeling: Provides 3D modeling tools when working in 3D models.
    • Map Admin: Includes tools to create and update DGNLIBs used as print preparation templates.
    • Map Database Linkages: Used when working with an RDBMS database.
  • 64-bit application to handle much larger data sets and reality models.
  • Integration with the online Bentley CONNECT Cloud services for improved project sharing.
  • New Bing Maps background map for an ‘always available’ base map.
  • Bentley Map CONNECT Edition includes those features found in CONNECT Edition of the platform product.

Geospatial projects created by the V8i version of Geospatial Administrator will need to be opened with the CONNECT version and exported. This ensures that the project conforms to the new workspace and workset concepts employed by the CONNECT series of products.

Please note that the Bentley Map for MicroStation product, which installs on MicroStation as a layered application, will not be developed as a CONNECT application.  Existing users can move to Bentley Map Standalone or Bentley Map Enterprise.  Details on how to do this will be forthcoming through your account manager.

Bentley Map for MicroStation users should also note that for ELS and SELECT Open Access, use of Bentley Map Standalone will consume one license.

To help Map users get started with the new user interface, an introductory video has been posted here.
