Hi,
I have used the example from the Bentley Map Wiki on how to use property watcher to compute values.
The only difference from the Wiki example is that I use database properties.
But the computed values are just empty in my workspace. The Wiki example with dgn resident properties works fine.
Has anyone experienced the same kind of issue? Or do I have to do something different because of the DB properties.
I use Bentley Map SS4 08.11.09.882.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Best regards
Jens
Hi Jens,
can you provide more details what do you want to achieve? Like "there is an option menu, when the selection will change...".
I am not sure whether all watcher options work the same for DGN and DB properties, but I use in one project watcher to change a content of one option menu based on selection in another (like when I choose country, fill the menu by all cities from database table).
With regards,
Jan

Hi Jan,
What I want to achieve is to be able to calculate a value from two other values. When I enter values in two different fields I would like a third value to show me the difference (subtraction of value2 from value1).
There's a good example in the Wiki (https://communities.bentley.com/products/geospatial/desktop/w/geospatial_desktop__wiki/37769/--property-watcher-to-compute-values). However I cannot make it work with DB properties.

Sorry, but your answer does not make it clearer. What are your DB properties? It looks to me like "I want to know the answer, but I will do not share any piece information."
Maybe the calculation is in calculation itself, not in watcher, because watcher (e.g. sync one) works fine with DB connection.
What about to make at easier for other people and to share e.g. the calculation formula you would like to use, which also will make clear how you access the database, and to confirm what DB do you use and what data types your properties are.
There are plenty of tiny details that can be crucial. Are the properties registered, so they are part of XFM feature definition or they are tables/columns not related anyhow to XFM model. Are you able to reach the data using SQL command from Bentley Map environment?
Regards,
Thanks again for your reply and I excuse for my late response. :-)
I found the reason why my calculation was not working. My DB values were stored as strings and not numbers. Either I will change the data type in the database to integer or try to convert the values to numbers using the TONUM function in GSA.
