GPS issues on Windows 10

As you may be aware the GPS functions using NMEA and garmin usb as the source for GPS location in the latest version (8.x and Connect) of core MicroStation are broken. I did find a solution using window location services. It's a little tricky but since WLS uses the IP address from a wired or wireless connection 1st even if a GPS sensor is in the machine (which is unhelpful to say the least as) when you disconnect from the network you get no location. The manufacturer we are using said we had to get the LTE card and pay for data services in order for the tablet to get a location from the mobile / GPS network. I did find a work around that you may want to pass on. There is a 'GPS' driver solution that reads the COM port NMEA output (i'm not sure of the garmin output) and passes it to windows locations services. You configure your GPS sensor to output to a virtual COM port then have the GPS driver listen to that port and it handles the rest. The link below has the free (unless you distribute) driver. They also have other tools if the basic driver does not work.
