Refreshing Oracle Data

Is there a method to automatically cause a DGN to refresh the Oracle data when it is opened with PowerMap (or Bentley Map)?

Also how can you save the Oracle connection user name and password in a DGN?

Cheers Ian

  • Hi Ian,

You can save  your Oracle connection settings as a .ORAX file in the interoperability windows. With this file, you don't need to key-in any user name and password each time. It stills save into the file. You can also define an Oracle database connection through schema in GSA.

This is extract from Bentley Map V8i Help file :

Working with a Defined Spatial Project
A spatial project is defined in the Bentley Geospatial Administrator by the administrator who registers features found in an Oracle database. If the Oracle source is open in the Administrator, you can open the source in Bentley Map through the Interoperability dialog box.

To import with a spatial project

    1. Open your project in Bentley Map .
    2. Select File > Open Oracle Spatial.
      The Interoperability dialog box opens.
    3. Right-click on the Oracle module and select Open Graphical Source.
The features registered in the database display.
    4. You can adjust the feature settings just like Importing GIS data types, except for symbology. Project features are read-only so symbology cannot be changed.
    5. Right-click on the database import and select save to save your Oracle connection settings as a .orax file.
