Shapefile containing metadata in .shp.xml format

When we create shapefiles in ESRI it contains a file for the metadata (.shp.xml). Is there a way to create that file with the OpenCities Map CONNECT export?

Christine, no. Map wont create the metadata .shp.xml file. This metadata file can only be created from Esri application and it only be used for those Esri application. API provided by Esri does not allow us to create this file on export. Once exported to SHP, opening this file in Esri will provided you new metadata need for. sorry for inconvenience. Sebastien
