I do not believe you have database linkages on the elements. Look at the mytown example delivered with Bentley Map. The graphics in these drawings have database linkages.

You said "some missing parts with respect to the Associate Linkages". Are there missing?
Can you give me a project demo?

Thank you very much.

Herovn;

I have looked at your drawing. There seems to be some missing parts with respect to the Associate Linkages.

I suspect you have a database with the drawing. If you do not, then, this will not work. What the tool is doing is taking a database linkage and copying it to an associated piece(s) of graphics. This association is either a centroid of the shape/boundary or the shape/boundary for a centroid.

Once you have that aset up, then you can use the tool to associate the linkages. To use the tool, you must define a fence of the aear where you want associate. Then you start up the tool. If you do not have a fence active, then the tool will not activate and you will be prompted in the status field that you need to have a fence active.

Hello,

A couple of months ago, I played with a trial version of V8imap.

I had the same issue, I thought I was doing somethign wrong.

I dont understand at all the need of this tool, or may be it worked in "silent mode" as I was able to sent to a small test database the data of the area, perimeter etc... And I believe that for this tool (area, perimeter etc.. ) to work needs the asociate linkages to be run correctly ( may be I'm worng, I'm not an expert).

just my 2 cents.

Also, is the associate linkages form listed in the Windws pulldown, in the main Microstation window ? Sometimes these forms get moved to some out of the way place, and can not be readily seen ( I have personally done this and get quite frustrated also). It may be opened, but you can not see it.

...so to confirm you are running MicroStation 08.11.05.17 and Bentley Map 08.11.05.49 versions. I just ran a test of those versions and was unable to reproduce the observed behavior (e.g. the tool settings for the "Associate Linkages" command appeared as expected if a fence was present and I had a valid database connection when the command was started). Maybe someone else in this forum can test the same versions and report their findings.
