why can't re-projected rasters be clipped?

I would like to be able to put clip boundaries on raster images that are re-projected, but it gives an error saying it can't because they are re-projected.  Is there anyway to do this and if not why?

  • That is really not a good solution in my case because the raster needs to be re-projected to fit my data so that I know where I need to clip it, otherwise it is just out in space with no relation to my project.  One example is the use of WMS raster attachments from terraserver, if I attach these by inheriting the dgn coordinate system they will not come into the correct position.

I really think this option needs to be a change request as it would be extremely helpfull.

  • It is not possible to clip reprojected rasters, but it is possible to reproject clipped rasters. So, the workaround is to check "Inherit GeoCS from Model" in the Raster Manager dialog box, clip the raster and set the "Inherit GeoCS from Model" toggle back OFF.
