Hi, when I export to SHP in BM SELECTseries1 I usually get errors like Unable to retrieve feature with id: 254726|0 and then the export process is stopped. I know this error is data related like if there are elements on a defined feature level that are not database connected but acording to the feature setup they are suposed to be. The problem from my point of view is that the process is stopped instead of skipping the error element and continuing exportin the next element and/or other features like BM dit in erlier verions.
Can somone please tell me if this is suposed to be like this and allso if there are some configuration to control this ?

Hi, here is a link to the small demo data, I have experianced this same problem using data from 3 different customers. In this case it's a legacy Geographic database.

Greetings Karl,
Unfortunately I'm unable to duplicate the described behavior using the provided data set. There seems to be mismatch between the feature instances and the provided database. For example, I see many linear feature instances representing the Götulagnir feature class whose entity number appears to be 1212 but the MSCATALOG contains no such entry. Using the "Data Browser" I was able to load all the instance data in the design file, although the business properties were not loaded, more than likely due to the previously mentioned entity number problem.
You mentioned this was a legacy MicroStation GeoGraphics project. If so, could you provide a copy of the XFM schema for this data set which defines the database tables for each feature class?
In what version of Bentley Map did you observe different behavior that would allow "Export" to continue, basically skipping invalid feature instances?
Using the "Interoperability" application, I was able to export 9,284 feature instances into 57 SHP files, after deselecting the Myndkort feature class, which seemed to refer to an unsupported geometry type.

Jeff Bielefeld [Bentley]
Hi Jeff, here is a path where you can get my XML file.

Just in case I am doing somthing wrong here is a small description of how I am doing this.
1: Create a odbc connection to the database, open Bentley Geospatial Mangaer and select File > Import > MG Database
2: After the import is finised I select File > Export > all Metadata and W-files
3: Start BM, in Microstation Manager I select the workspace name I exported from BGA and open hitaveita.hit
4: In BM I select File > Export > GIS data types, create a new Export, right click on it and select Add Shapefile Directory, right click on the shape file and deselect all fetures. Right click on category Hitaveita and select all features
I can see the process running in the status bar and the % is ticking but after about 15-30 sec the process stoppes and the message "Unable to retrieve feature with id: 255654|0" comes in the status bar
As I mentioned before I have experianced exatly the same in other data sets.
I usualy updat my computer vhen Bentley issues new releces so I dont have the exact version number of one where this export was a success but it was V8

Hi Jeff, I am still having this same probelm and have bin doing some investigation and I have found out that this error only apears when I create a shape file using "Add Shapefile Directory" (not when I create shape files using the "Add Shapefile" option).
Is it possible when you dit your test on my data that you used the "Add Shapefile" option ?
