Creating Grids with Co-ordinates on multiple drawing sheets

Goodday!

I'm currently busy on a project where I need to create multiple drawings sheets within the Bentley Map environment.  On these pages the LO Grids must be shown on each individual page.  My idea is that I will have to create a grid within my default design model and when I do my print preparation there must be some method that will automatically show my LO grids on my drawing sheets.

Kindly assist me on this one!

Kind regards,

Max

  • VisagieM;

    I believe you are on the right path. You should be able to create your grids using the grid generation tools, in the base (default) model. This will write these to the default model.

    Then using the Print Preparation tools, you should be able to create cut sheets ( new models for plotting), that will reference the default model and clip it accordingly. Your previously created grids should show up. If not, check to make sure the levels are displayed for the reference files attached to the cut sheet model.

    Also make sure the level/layer is set to be able to plot (Level Manager-> Select layer from the list, right mouse click -> Select 'properties').  Though this is a core Microstation functionality, it sometimes trips people up.

  • Hi, Jerry!

    The print preparation tool works very nicely, but unfortunately for South African standards we must add the co-ordinates with the grid as prefix of eg. Y-15420.2 and X+2936989.0.  We may not display both these on a grid as setup currently  (15420.2,-2936989.0) and must display separately on the grid.

    Will there be any possiblility to change this to display according to our South African standards.  Where will I be able to change this.  Maybe within a macro?

    Thank you.

  • Once the grid values ar3e plotted, then use a VBA macro to go through the file and change the formatting of the values to the SA standards. I suspect that the text will be on a separate layer, so finding them should be relatively easy.. Then you should be ready to go.

  • Very attractive question. Since I recently read something about UI grid tutorial, I believe to apply some UI grid control would be helpful. But, I still haven't worked out a good way. Sounds like the VBA macro is quite necessary here.
