I am testing Bentley Map on a highway project. We use MS .180, IR .229 and BM .87 (as part of InRoads 'extension'). I imported SHP (+ SHX and DBF) file into BM and I can see, display and make simple operation (symbology, labeling...) on dataset

Re: buffer and overlay disable

Jeff,

Bulls eye! After I create new 2D DGN buffor and overlay options are enable and now BM works perfect! I cannot belive that we did not use BM on our highway project before! Thanks you guys.

Piotr,

Are you in a 3D design file? If so the "Buffer..." and "Overlay..." tools will be disabled.

Jerry,

On both: '...current DGN file' and '...new DGN file' tools do not work.

May I ask for your email adress, please - I will send you DGN, SHP, SHX and DBF files?

Yep, From your desciption on the original posting, I did do this thru the Inroads install (

started up inroads

Loaded the Map application

imported a shape file

opened a new Map Manager model

selected the layer in the map model

) and the buffer and overlay was available.

Can you repeat the above with a new drawing and let me know ???

If that works for you, can you send me the drawing that you have done the shape file import into (via email if it is not too large , ie > 2mb) so I can look at it ??

Thanks !

Jerry.

Jerry,

No, it does not. For both 'Make Active for Editing' and 'Stop Editing' buffer and overlay are disable. We tested this on MS + BM and it works but when we start BM with InRoads running - does not.

If you go back to the original work file ( I noticed that the drop down menu has the 'Stop Editing ...' on it ), and then try to do your buffers and overlays, does it work ?
