Bentley Map can automatically attach and detach file based features using the seamless mapping option. To use this option, a file index must be created and the appropriate features associated with that file index.

Hi Jeff or anyone, who might answer. Now we're in 2014, the Bentley Map are SS 3 and activate/deactivate reference file are still not available. Perhaps it would be possible, in the near future, to choose which of the two tools, this or Map Manager, one want in function. That would be nice.

The reference file activate/deactivate commands are not currently supported and cause conflicts with the existing "Make Active For Edit" command in the "Map Manager" application. We are working to support in place reference file activation in a future Bentley Map product release.
