How to delete newly created feature classes?

How do you delete newly created feature classes?  For example:  If I were to do a buffer on a feature class, it creates a new feature class to my map.  I can then "remove" it from my active map layers, but it still resides "Project > Feature Classes" portion of my map.  How do I comepletely deleted these feature classes?

  • Jeremy,

The "Remove" command in the "Map Manager" does not actually delete the instance data which was created by the "Buffer..." command. The following steps should achieve your desired result:

    1. Using the "Map Manager" application, choose the "Add Feature..." icon and add your buffer back to the list of displayed layers.
    2. Using the checkbox on the root "Layers" node in the "Map Manager" turn off the display of all layers.
    3. Select and enable the checkbox for the buffer layer.
    4. Using MicroStation delete commands such as "Fence Delete" or selection set choose and delete approach, delete all of your buffer instances.
    5. Select and enable the remaining layers for display.

At this point the buffer layer should not appear in the "Map Manager > Map > Project > Features" or the "Command Manager > Session" lists.
