Is anyone prepared to share examples of XFM project files? I would appreciate being able to drill into Geospatial project files to see how they work. The geo_example provided does not cover the points I am interested in and the Help files can be a bit vague.
Hi Annely,
I think it's better to ask for particular problems/issues you would like to solve than to try to hack existing projects. With the exception of really simple ones it is not easy even for experienced user to understand why some features/methods/operations etc. are set this way without a good knowledge of background, conditions and requirements.
I am pretty sure if it will be clear what you want to solve or to know, you will receive valuable answers in this forum :-)
With regards,

Hi Jan
Thank you for your reply.
I am not wanting to hack existing projects rather to have examples to dissect and study. I am interested in the various possibilities the features/methods/operations may be set, not necessarily for any particular project I am currently working on rather to build a greater depth of knowledge. The geo_example provided is good for that but I was interested in viewing other examples to glean more ideas - not trying to steal anyones hard work. Sometimes it is just that you don't know what you don't know!
If I have a particular problem/issues I will use the forum.
Anne
Hi Anne,
I used "hacking" in the possitive meaning, which is pretty close what you call "to dissect and study" :-) My opinion is the sharing knowledge is one of the most powerful concept of development, so I assume if anybody will provide you an example, an expectation you will use the solution/approach/idea exist. And because every project is different, I have not awaited anything like a steal.
Don't underrate geo_example included in the installation: If you will study particular features, you will discover quite a lot techniques and features like feature collections, rich GUI, feature dependency, placement library and more. I recommend to study all help files delivered with the product including Geospatial Administrator help and SDK help files, specifically XFM/XFT part. Despite the documentation is too brief sometimes, it provides information what can be set and what values are accepted.
I tried to find somethin I can send you, unfortunately nearly all projects I found were created for my customers, so I am not allowed to share them, or are closely connected to specific database structure and don't work without the original data. To learn XFM quickly, try to write your own project with real or expected features and try to create it ... and if something will not work, ask for help :-)
