Hi all
When we import a shape file into Bentley Map SS1 holes are getting "filled".
A simple test:
See the attached dgn file.
1) On level "Original - with hole" I have made a simple shape with a hole.
2) I then export it to a shape file. And checked that it is exportet correctly (it is)...
3) Then I import the shapefile again - the result can be seen on level "Importet - no hole" - and now the hole is gone...
Is this a bug or a feature? Or am I missing something?
Kind regards
Morten
Is this a Microstation drawn or XFM feature ? What version of Bentley Map ? If I draw shape/circle elements, promote them to a polygon collection type feature, export to shape and re-import and map to the same feature, all is fine ( fills, holes, etc.)
See attached.
Jerry
Hi
Yes, that is correct. I can now see that I was wrong. I was confused because the hole was filled with the same color as the rest of the shape...
But that do not solve my "real" problem...
Because when I export the same file to GML using the FME all the "areas" are converted as "exterior" and therefore the holes are gone...
I'm using Bentley Map 08.11.07.113 and FME 2010 SP3 Build 6231.
OK, so we have a different issue here ? Sorry, I am not familiar with the workflow you are using above. Have you cantacted Safe Software reguarding this ?
Hi. We have worked on a similar problem when posting polygons with holes to Oracle. I think that fix would also help in your case. I suggest you try out SS2 when it comes out.
Martin
Martin - sounds promissing :-)
Jerry - no I have not contacted Safe.
Martin,
is SS2 still timed for "early Q1 2011" or is there a new ETA for it ?
Thanks,
Holger
Yes. In fact, it should now be available.
Tried this hole_test_jaw.zip example in SS3 and it now creates new version XFM Feature which also acts weird. If I map to a feature without fill then it is not possible to select polygon collection it selects only individual shapes.
Yes, there is definitely a sweet spot for the collections. We have to be able to modify the individual components of the collection AND the collection as a whole.
If you select the outer edge of one of the polygon components then that component is moved, etc. If you issue a datapoint on the interior of the polygon then the collection will be selected and the whole collection can be moved.
Is that what you are looking for ???
