converting to Civil 3D files?

Hello,

we gotta do a utility design job for a huge development. We are planning to use our Bentley products to do so. Our client wants a workable file after we finish because he wants to continue updating our model in Civil 3D to create his "as built" model.

is it possible to export the Bentley model to a file which Civil 3D can read and use?

thanks

  • Sorry, I do not understand how this involves Bentley Geospatial Desktop products ?

Can you explain in more detail what Geospatial products, workflows and versions are involved ?

    Thanks !

  • Wolfgang,

I'm with Jerry on this. I think you would be much better off posting this in the Road and Site Design area.

You have a few options going to Civil 3D. Depending on what you are designing and your client's definition of a "workable file" will determine which route you want to go:

    1. Save the dgn as dwg and use the dwg in Civil 3D (gives you the graphics, but no intelligence)

    2. From one of the Bentley Civil products export the design as Land XML, then import the Land XML into Civil 3D

    3. Since you are posting this in the Geospatial area you might only be dealing with geographic type data as background data for your design job. In that case save/export your XFM features to one of the Bentley Map supported options, then import them using Map 3D which will then be available for use in Civil 3D.
