Can ESRI features be imported and displayed using MicroStation cell library?

We are trying to figure out how to import (or reference?) ESRI features in MicroStation so they display using our cell library.  For example, when I import our water main system, what steps do I need to take to make the hydrants and valves display using our MicroStation cell library?  Do we need to have something set up in the GIS database with the cell name?  Do we need to write a script for this process?

In the past, the tech who was drawing all our utilities in GIS was first drawing everything in MicroStation, referencing it in GIS, and basically digitizing it in GIS.  That tech retired and we're looking for a simpler way to transfer utilities between GIS and MicroStation for design purposes.  I can import the features and select by atrribute but I'm hoping there's an easier solution.

We would like to be able to append the GIS features into MicroStation and not have to resymbolize the entire set of features each time.  This would not be a one-time operation/occurance.

We are using MicroStation V8i SS1 and ESRI ArcMap 10.

Thanks!
