Hi all,
I'm new to Bentley Map. I am tying to run this through Microstation v8i and InRoads v8i SS2. After loading InRoads I go to the Activate Map icon and when I click the icon Microstation and InRoads both flash on the screen as if the Map software is loading but I see nothing different. There is no indication that the software has loaded and is available for use. What am I doing wrong?
I only need this software so I can export .dgn data to GIS data.
Thanks,
Mike
You should see a couple of menu changes. Look in the main menu, there should be a "Geospatial" menu item under Tools menu and the File menu, you should see a "Map Manager" and "Open Oracle Spatial" menu items.
Otherwise there should be little interface changes.
If you are looking to export GIS data, then look at the File_>Export->GIS Data Types

Jerry,
Thanks for the quick response. I looked in the menus and I do not see any changes in InRoads or Microstation menus. Usually when you load an application Microstation reports this in the message center. I do not have any indication that Map has loaded or failed to load. Any suggestions?
Microstation CONNECT - 10.17.2.61
ORD - 2021 R1 10.10.1.3
ORD 2022 R1.1 - 10.11.3.2
ORD 2022 R3 - 10.12.2.4
Microstation v8i SS 10 - 08.11.09.919
Power InRoads v8i - 08.11.09.615
ProjectWise - 10.0.3.453
The Map commands are added to the same locations throughout MicroStation as standard Map. The import for GIS is under File > Import > GIS Data Types... which is at the very end of the list. If you still do not see the commands please call Bentley Support and tell them it is a question for InRoads Technical Support.
Regards,
Not quite sure why this is a issue. This looks like something that a technical support person needs to look at. Please file a service ticket and they can help you out.
Thanks for the replies. I will file a service ticket.
In your configuration do you have the MAP_FINISHING = 1 variable set?
I've found that the Activate Map menu selection will not load Map if that variable is set.

RodWing,
Thanks for the hint. I will look into that. Apparently this is machine specific. I tried some other computers today and Map loaded fine. I was able to export the information without a problem.
