I'm new to Bentley Map. I am tying to run this through Microstation v8i and InRoads v8i SS2. After loading InRoads I go to the Activate Map icon and when I click the icon Microstation and InRoads both flash on the screen as if the Map software

Re: Help running Bentley Map

Well,

I got it working

I uninstalled InRoads and Microstation. I tried a repair and a reinstall of both programs but it did not work. I am wandering if the fact that I had Micostation SS3 Beta installed on my machine was the issue. That folder had the Map folder. After I uninstalled both programs and V8i SS3 Beta and then reinstalled MS and IR SS2 only everything works fine. I am the only person who had SS3 for evaluation and maybe I stumbled onto some conflict while installing that it blocked Map from running on previously installed SS2.

As I was typing this reply I received a response to the Tech Support analyst who was helping me. She confirmed that this is an issue when SS2 and SS3 are installed on the same machine. She mentioned she had the same issue with her computer.

Thanks for the replies,

The InRoads SS2 version does contain the CADscript tools. They just don't play nice with Bentley Map.

Re: Help running Bentley Map

I did find another problem that is most likely causing the issue. As I was installing Microstation and InRoads on another computer this morning I noticed there was a Map folder under the Microstation folder. My computer does not have that folder. I am reinstalling to see if that fixes this issue.

Re: Help running Bentley Map

In the Inroads version, I do not believe it has the same product tier delivered as Bentley Map Enterprise ( which includes cad script).

Re: Help running Bentley Map

If you don't see it then it hasn't been defined and it is not the problem. The import for GIS is under File > Import > GIS Data Types... which is at the very end of the list. If you still do not see the commands please call Bentley Support and tell them it is a question for InRoads Technical Support.

Thanks for the quick response. I looked in the menus and I do not see any changes in InRoads or Microstation menus. Usually when you load an application Microstation reports this in the message center. I do not have any indication that Map has loaded or failed to load. Any suggestions?

Re: Help running Bentley Map

You should see a couple of menu changes. Look in the main menu, there should be a "Geospatial" menu item under Tools menu and the File menu, you should see a "Map Manager" and "Open Oracle Spatial" menu items.

Otherwise there should be little interface changes.

If you are looking to export GIS data, then look at the File_>Export->GIS Data Types

HTH
