Hi
There is a Geo tool for Print Preparation Workflow:
Print Preparation tools > Creating Print Sheet > When creating a print I would like to have the possibility of having the print border being placed in the same coordinates as in the design model and not in the origin. Currently the tool produces a Sheet model where the print template border model is placed in the origin and the model is referenced to it.
Print preparation tool should attach the design model coordinate system to the sheet file.
I also want possibility of inserting the name of the sheet model prior to the creation of it. Currently it defaults to PrintPreOutput[Number]
Currently its possible to create GEO PDFs that have coordinate systems attached. If you use print preparation tool, it creates new print sheet, and the active dgns coordinate system is not preserved in the new sheet file.

Hi Tom,
Yip I agree, requested the same thing from Bentley. Hopefully they receive sufficient requests from the users to validate the change request.
So if you find a way of doing this please email me direct to howardgib@gmail.com I will do the same if I find a workaround.
See my request results below, as I have submitted a service ticket to Bentley.
ST Description: Print Prepaperation
Product: Bentley Map
Keyword: Tools
Your issue has been reported by another user and resulted in a Bentley CR (Change Request).
I will notify the developers that you are also having this issue.
The issue will undergo evaluation by our team of programmers, project managers, application engineers and technical support engineers who define Bentley products. The ability to implement enhancements is defined largely by the impact on existing feature sets, probable inclusion of the feature in a current release and the degree of universal benefit to the user base. We will keep the requested feature in mind as a potential enhancement to our product line in the future.

Hi Howard
Nice to know that I´m not alone with this print preparation problems. I will email you when I have a solution (hopefully NOT a workaround :) ) or any news about the CR status.
It would be interesting to know what your (or others) ideas about the changes needed in print preparation workflow.
In my opinion the basic functions in print preparation are to 85% good and promising BUT the remaining 15% makes the print preparation totaly useless especially for mapping and civil projects.
Best regards
Tom
Attaching the movie, download the file and open with Internet explorer.
Here is a link to an free mdl created by Surell where you can choose grid interval, place grid cross cell and cross coordinate text inside fence or one by one. (application in swedish but you get the idea)

Thanks to everyone, Tom
Sure have a few things to go and look at now. Lets see what we can do with this. Will keep you posted. Many thanks. I don't have the time to do all the research. Lets trust that all will be fixed in the next release if there is one.
Best Regards,
Tom,
This is a very well thought out workflow. Is there any posibility for a copy of this so that I can experiment with it and mabe implement with my drawings? Then see if we can make use of this in the Print Prep app.
Also looked at the place grid .ma and works very well.
Yes, here is copy of the Plotmanager Application source code , the only thing as ask for return is if someone is converting this application for V8i I want a copy of the v8i source code back. To change language there is a file plotdlg_eng.r that is the english version text for the ma (edit freely if there is some writing errors) .... compile to change language of Plotmanager to english.
Howard:
I have to find you the installation packet, I know that I have it some where :), I send it when I found it.
About Plotmanager
The Plotmanager is a V8 2004 edition version and I have no attentions to update the application for V8i, the application itself needs to be updated/reworked so it matches the 85% of the printprep good functionality and it so big changes needed to be done so it is better to hope for Print preparation tool, but the workflow logic in it is more than good, the response from the users are overwhelm thats why I have the 2004 edition still in use, the users are creating their plot dgn:s within V8i and open the dgn with 2004 edition just for plotting via Plotmanager.
