Hi,
I am investigating Bentley Map, but I have come across a problem with Annotation or Labeling. I have experience using ESRI and MapInfo products.
I would like to open a SHP / TAB file with Bentley Map and Label each element with attributes from the associated database. I can review these attribute, but how do you label with these attributes??
Cheers Ian
If you are using an RDBMS to store attribute information, keyin dialog annotate.
Please note that some of the features in this dialog are not yet working as expected which explains why this dialog is hidden from the UI.
IanTidy:Is there an option for non-RDBMS data sets and Tags?
Not at this time, however the annotation options will be improved upon for the Athens release. What that might include - I'm not certain of at this time but will forward your questions to someone in the know.
I have just set-up an Oracle server, to try another approach. But if you connect to the database using the 'Open Oracle Spatial', to get the geometries, the annotation dialog doesn't recognize this connection even though it is an RDBMS data-set. Cheers Ian
Hi All,
I am still stuck on this problem. I have an Oracle database and the latest Bentley Map V8i and still I can't find an option to automatically label the features from the Oracle Spatial database. Have I missed something?
I also found that Bentley Map V8i doesn't like the Oracle 10g Client (and you need to install the 11g Client) and also it doesn't like the 64-bit 11g Client. So for Bentley Map V8i you need to have the 32-bit Oracle 11g Client to use the 'Open Oracle Spatial' feature.
How do people work around this problem?
