hello evryone,
i was digitizing lot shapes on a raster image in an XFM project and wen i digitize a lot shape and press reset so as to show d edit dialog.........the lot shape doesnt appear and an error msg appears sayin "Operation must use an Opdateable query".......wld need some1 help to understand this error msg..thx

What can you tell us about your XFM project? Which version of Bentley Map are you using? Are you connected to a database and if so which one? Are you using custom placement methods or ones from the Bentley Map standard placement library? If you are not familiar with the answers to these questions, could you provide a copy of your XFM schema so that I can review?

5. Create an ODBC Data Source in Windows:
o Open the Windows Start menu and select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
o
Open the System DSN tab and click Add….
Select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) and click Finish.
Type eastcity as the data source name and click Select… to browse to the folder ..\prj\eastcity_fund\ and select the file eastcity.mdb.
6. Check and if necessary correct the paths in the schema file
eastcity_fund.xml: o Start Bentley Geospatial Administrator and open the schema file eastcity_fund.xml.
In the left pane select Geospatial Project and check the Workspace Root Directory and the Project Parent Directory. If necessary, correct the paths according to the folder structure on your computer.
Expand User Workspaces and select Workspace (EastCity).
Check and if necessary correct the Base Source Dir, depending on the location where you extracted the zip file.
7. In Bentley Geospatial Administrator, click
Export to export the workspace Cadastre_EastCity. This will create the following folder structure below your workspace root directory: o ..\Workspace\Projects\Cadastre\
with the subfolders EastCity and
xml
and in the folder EastCity the subfolders cell, dgn, seed, templates, and
8. In Bentley Geospatial Administrator, right-click
Workspace (EastCity) and select Run to start Bentley Map with the newly created workspace Cadastre_EastCity.
9. In Windows Explorer browse to the folder
..\prj\eastcity_fund\ and copy the subfolders data, dgn, dgnlib, images, shp, and symb to the folder ..\Workspace\Projects\Cadastre\EastCity\. You can overwrite the existing dgn folder.
10. Create a desktop icon:
o In Bentley Geospatial Administrator, right-click Workspace (EastCity) and select Create shortcut… .
Behind File Name browse to Desktop and click Open and OK.

11. Finally, you have to delete and recreate the reference file index and associate the features, to make the seamless mapping technique work correctly.
o In Bentley Geospatial Administrator, expand Graphical Sources > Reference File Index and delete the Cadastre node.
Right-click Reference File Index and select Add > New… .
Enter the following:
 
Name:
Cadastre Folder: ..\Workspace\Projects\Cadastre\EastCity\dgn Process subfolders: off Filter: *.cad Index file: cadastre.gdx Log file: c:\temp\index.log (or in another folder)
Click Next and ignore the content of the next dialog (don’t skip any levels).
Click Next again and overwrite the existing file.
To associate features with this reference file index, right-click the new Cadastre node and select Associate features.
Select all features in the Cadastral category and click OK.
Save and export the changes.
am using V8i Select series 2..
jeff, am also havin a feelin it cld hav been a mistake i did yle settin up all these........cos thou i hav no problems in the functons and usage of the map manager.............and even some features of the command manager......but the problem arises with features dat need editing afta placement......or if i use d edit command on a feature.
