Hi Jeff,
I want to address this question to Jeff Bielefeld, I already raised this question during beta testing but unfortunately I was not able to complete the Beta 2 or before the released of the SS3 version of BMap. Using Data Browser is a very vital tool for us especially searching data from a huge database. Its been a long while since the birth of V8i up to SS2 Data Browser had not been able to deliver what we have expecting. In what's new in SS3 it says;
We are planning to upgrade our SS2 to SS3 hoping that we can benefit from this improvement. We are Using RDBMS for Oracle not Oracle Spatial. Can we expect the same speed as to the Oracle Spatial for the search and filter options?
Hoping for a clear direction

Jun,
Unfortunately the answer is no. The significant Data Browser performance improvements are only realized when using Oracle Spatial and Microsoft SQL Server Spatial graphical source connections.

Jeff.
Can we expect this to present in the next release?
Performance improvements in the Data Browser for projects using standard RDBMS connections are not planned for the next release.
Just want to know bentley's direction.....
Jeremy,
Unfortunately, in the Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 4) release, no significant performance improvements are planned for the Data Browser in support of projects using standard RDBMS connections. The performance improvements referenced earlier in this forum posting had been made in support of larger projects which often leverage a central spatial database.
It is quite sad for those who are not considered large projects, and who are using a standard RDBMS. It was there fault in choosing the wrong product for them. Who left them behind because they are small...
