The documentation on Bentley Microstation Map v8i is obviously unclear. The given GUI asks for the schema, but if we intend to export our DGN to the CityGML, we cant as it gives an error message in the GML file generated!

Read that 'proof' carefully to see that it refers to Bentley Map V8i SELECTseries3 (SS3).
Your version of Bentley map, 8.11.07.434, is the earlier version SELECTseries2 (SS2) published in April 2011.
Unsurprisingly, the older software that you have (SS2) does not have all the features of the new software (SS3).

Your organisation has a contract with Bentley Systems. A nominated person has download rights on the Bentley Systems website. That person can obtain software under the terms of your Bentley Systems SELECT or Academic contract. Talk to that person in your organisation.
