Seems that something is very wrong.
Trying to load a few featureclasses in a small area from som very large Shapefiles makes Bentley Map ab-end with this message:

According to the preview is only around 2800 feature objects, so that sould not be the problem. There is at no time use of more than 2.2 Gbyte on the PC leaving around one giga memory free ???
All the Shapefiles together is just a little over 1 Gbyte
According to Keith Raymond this is a know bug and has Trouble Report no: 352310 . It has its root in an error reading the coordinate system of the design file. The bug is due to be fixed in SS4 at the end of this year.
Until then a workaround is to import Shape files in a designfile without GeoCoordinate system, and after importing set the correct coordinate system and then maybe transform it to the coordinate system you want.
