The next major Bentley Map commercial release is not currently planned until end of Q1 2014.

Thank you very much Dan. That workaround will solve our problem for now.

Is there a fixes or major release due out before Christmas? I think I read somewhere that Geodatabase support will be included in the next release. Is there a summary somewhere of what we can expect in the next release?

I can confirm that multiple file creation occurs when a Collection Feature Class is selected as the output in the Add Shapefile... option.

This has been reported and filed in Bentley Trouble Report 344195, which is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of Bentley Map. Until that time, use the Add Shapefile directory... option to create the intended file.
