• TerraSolid, Bentley Map and CityGML Exports

I am using the TerraSolid package for detecting and digitizing buildings. This digitization happens in Bentley Microstation v8i. Now I wish to export these buildings to CityGML using Bentley Map v8i. How will this be possible?
  • Re: Microstation vs. PowerMap/Microstation PowerDraft in saving as dxf

Is the same file being saved differently or is it a matter of a shape drawn in PowerMap is not saving the same way as a shape drawn in MicroStation?
  • Re: Userdefined coordinatesystem i PowerMap V8i

For details on adding a user defined coordinate system library and adding a user defined GCS, please see: http://docs.bentley.com/en/Map/MicroStationMaphelp147.html All data is transformed however there are options to control how certain…
  • Bentley Microstation Map v8i

The documentation on Bentley Microstation Map v8i is obviously unclear. The given GUI asks for the schema, but if we intend to export our DGN to the CityGML, we cant as it gives an error message in the GML file generated! Could someone clarify this…
  • Re: How to define a custom projection?

At this time the translation/scale/roatation parameters are not available for edit in the interface. We have filed a TR for this. However if your project is not spatially large you could get good results by implementing a local CS by using…
  • Re: Connecting to the SAME Row in an ODBC connected Database

True enough. Not everyone runs on the calendar year. We are expecting the release towards the end of June this year. In your example below, you want to associate a series of features with a record that indicates when those features may have been…
  • Re: What is Database linkages? What mean is?

MicroStation and Database Linkages herovn: But I don't understand it well. LIke many Bentley products, the Geo family relies on the MicroStation platform. MicroStation has built-in capability to connect to a relational database (DB) such…
  • SOLUTION Re: [GEOGRAPHICS] Coord system, stumped!

The bottom line ...there was no problem with my coordinate system - I should have used CORPSCON to confirm. I was using the Input/Readout tool to monitor the coordinates when I changed my master coord sys (default -> SPCS NAD83 Zone V Feet). The…
  • Re: SHP file to DGN with resymbolisation.

Hi! By using Bentley Map, you can import shapefile via Interoperability dialog and set any symbology before importing. Please refer to following help page: docs.bentley.com/.../MicroStationMaphelp57.html Once data imported, you can use thematic tool…
  • Reading XFM properties in MicroStation

Is is possible to read XFM properties / attributes directly in MicroStation without Bentley Map being loaded (or installed). I have been asked to build a tool for MicroStation V8i the recenters the view based on XFM attribute values (a search tool). …
  • [GEOGRAPHICS] Coord system, stumped!

I've already posted here and spoken with a Bentley rep via live chat. Having a darn hard time getting my coordinate system squared away. The link above begins to describe the problem. Here is another post which may explain part of the problem…
  • Start Map from within MicroStation

This is a simple question. I have loaded Bentley MAP for Microstation. I just need to know if there is a way to start Map from within Microstation. I would like to be able to start it similarly to the way I can with InRoads (by calling an MDL) or similar…
  • Re: Geospatial Administrator existing dgn file

If the DGN is already connected to Access then you need to define the database in the XFM project. To do so, go to the database node in the GSA and add the ODBC data source name. Create a feature that describes one of the features in your existing DGN…
  • Re: Exporting a buffer

Charlie, Try the shape2dgn_v8 MDL app attached below.... it seems to work for me in Microstation v8 ( 2004 and XM ). There is no need for Bentley Map or Geographics to import shapefiles into a Microstation design file. Just follow the instructions…
  • Getting High Resolution Google Earth Pro Images Into Microstation SS3

Hey All, I'm racking my brain trying to get a large scale, high resolution google earth pro image to effectively import into my microstation drawing. I need a large area and I need to be able to zoom in close enough to see railroad track ties. The…
  • Bentley Map FME Intergration Query

Hi, I am in the process of trying to convert data contained in a google earth KMZ file into a DGN for microstation to begin compiling drawings for my client. I have tried many options (text files being a slow method) but see there is a way to do…
  • Re: How to define a custom projection?

I don't know if I could put a size on it but that sounds 'spatially large' to me! I presume you are using a local CS with something like 0,0 at the lower left (or similar) of the site. Perhaps you could define the appropriate state plane GCS for your…
  • Re: SHP file to DGN with resymbolisation.

Unfortunately, Map features cannot be edit and properties cannot be seen in Microstation environment. You need to be in Map to work with it. Sebastien Lefrancois GeoSpatial QA
  • Re: Reading XFM properties in MicroStation

Hi Ian, No, this is not possible. You will require the XFM engine running inside Bentley Map (or PowerMap) to be able to interpret the XFM properties (and the XFM object hierarchy, for that matter). So the options you have: Use Bentley…
  • Re: XY TRACKING & REFERENCE COORDINATE SYSTEM-POWERMAP V8i

At this point only geographic coordinates are supported. I will advise the MicroStation group of your request.
